“Buddha-like” Panda Xi Er Ye

2021-05-18

Xi Lan,is a male panda that was  born on August 30, 2008 at Zoo Atlanta USA.  He Is the second cub of the "white fur" family Lun Lun and Yang Yang and younger brother of the giant panda star Mei Lan.  He is called "Er Ye" by many giant panda fans. He returned to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in May 2014.

Xi Lan has a big fluffy head, always keeps his white fur clean and has a handsome face. He often has a melancholy expression on his face  like he is thinking " the west wind is cool alone, the yellow leaves are rustling, the windows are closed, the past is pondering, the sun is fading", this passage is called "Er Ye Bai Zi Hua". Xi Lan is known as "the most handsome panda" among the many male pandas in the Base.

Elegant and handsome

When he was young, he was active and very naughty. He would often bother  his mother Lun Lun regardless of occasion or time. He used to annoy his mother repeatedly when she was eating bamboo, the end result was she grabbed him from over her shoulder and tossed him into a pile of bamboo. After this  Xi Lan became a famous internet  celebrity panda.

As an adult, Xi Lan is very relaxed. He likes to eat slowly and walk slowly. When he has nothing to do, he will take a walk or sit on a perch and think about his life, or lie on the perch and keep his eyes closed. When the bamboo is prepared by his keeper, if it is not to his liking, he will rather eat tree branches and grass in silence.  He never pulls out the door to destroy things or lose his temper.

Xi Lan is always so indifferent. He is not pleased by external gains and not saddened by personal losses. We wish he  will always be the comfortable and leisurely "Buddha panda".
