2021-04-27

On August 12, 2011, Cheng Gong gave birth to twin female cubs named He Qi and He Mei On September 24, 2015, the twins were moved to the Guizhou Forest Wildlife Zoo from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Since then they have lived here for almost five years. Now please follow me to to visit He Qi and He Mei in Guizhou Forest Wildlife Zoo.

Compared with Chengdu, the weather in Guizhou is very cool. The zoo is very big without so many tourists, which is quiet and suitable for giant pandas. At the Panda House, He Qi and He Mei are already playing outside in the playground.

According to the panda keeper, after 8 o’clock every day, he will let He Qi and He Mei go out to the playground. He Qi likes to climb up to the wooden frame to play and eat as soon as she comes out, and she likes to have a rest on the wooden frame when she feels tired. However He Mei likes to walk around in the playground, and then she will climb up to the wooden frame to eat and have a rest. It seems that He Mei is more active, but in fact, their personality is just the opposite. He Qi is more active, for she always take the initiative to provoke He Mei. By contrast, He Mei is more calm and quiet.

The bamboo that is fed to  the two pandas come from the surrounding mountains, most of which are the species Pleioblastus and Indocalamus. In May and June, the two pandas mainly eat bamboo shoots, and the panda keeper will feed them panda bread at 11 a.m. , 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. ' every day.

The keeper also says, He Qi and He Mei get along very well with each other. They often share bamboo and panda bread with each other, and they will sleep together in each other’s arms! Their cleverness and good personalitities make their keepers free from worry about them. They enjoy a good life, nice food and physical heath here.
