At the invitation of ZooParc de Beauval, an experienced team, including panda keepers and veterinarians from Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, was immediately dispatched to France. Together with experts in ZooParc de Beauval, they implemented a 24-hour intensive supervision, and did a comprehensive and meticulous prenatal preparation. On August 4, 2017, Huan Huan gave birth to two babies but only one of them survived at last. This is Yuan Meng, the first giant panda baby born in France. People not only in France, but all over the world, had been mad about him since then. When he was 100 days old, ZooParc de Beauval released a short film Mini Yuan Zi , the First Step in His Life, which immediately became so popular that many French media reported this news all of a sudden. This movie was republished more than 30000 times by media and set off a wave of panda mania quickly in France .

Shortly after Yuan Meng was born, it had gained a lot of nicknames, such as Curls, Paupiette or Meat Roll for its special covering hair. Finally, on December 4, 2017, this small male panda cub was named Yuan Meng by Brigitte Macron, the French first lady on the naming ceremony in ZooParc de Beauval.
