Mei Lun and Mei Huan are twin sisters born on 15th, July of 2013 in America. LunLun is their mother who lives in the USA. They are the first panda twins who were born and survived in the USA. On 5th, Nov. of 2016 Mei Lun and Mei Huan finished their life in Atlanta Zoo of America and came back to Panda Base of Chengdu.

The life in Atlanta Zoo

At the beginning, Sichuan was unfit for unfitted the twin sisters to live in due toyears of life in America. They had been accustomed to English language and western food andthey loved baked biscuits supplied by American keepers, but they disliked “panda cake” which nearly made from the same ingredients. They can understand English instructions like “come here” and so on, while it is too difficult for them to understand Sichuan dialect of local keepers.

Mei Lun and Mei Huan have been back for over one year. How’s everything going? Have they been totally accustomed to local weather and food? Can they understand Sichuan dialect of their keepers? Let’s take a look…

Let’s enjoy the bamboo secretly!

It is said that the twin sisters came over jet lag, changed tastes and learned Sichuan dialect when they were isolated in quarantine. The younger sister Mei Huan is full of curiosity and very naughty. Compared to the elder sister Mei Lun, Mei Huan took a shorter time to adapt to local environment. The twin sisters have fell in love with their hometown food totally. And they can also understand Sichuan dialect of their nannies. It’s time to enjoy their “panda life”.

“How delicious the fresh bamboos of our hometown are!”

Mei Lun and Mei Huan are over four years old now and they will soon be mature to breed panda cubs. They receive some unique training regularly, such as famous “fishing panda”. It means that keepers hang a panda cake with a bamboo pole, and a panda stands up with its back legs to catch the panda cake with its forelegswhich aims to strengthen its back legs to help it to mate.
